For middle and high school age humans who are relative greenhorns at this whole farming thing.
This is the beginning internship level, for all folks who haven’t interned here before and those learning the faster-paced, focused rhythm of farm work. Often kids will do several of these before moving to the advanced level.
This is a 6 week internship at Poco Farm, learning and working alongside Grace, Darrell, Dan, Shanti and Ian.
6 THURSDAYS, 3:30-5:30, Oct 5-Nov 9.
Topics will include: basic animal husbandry, water usage & conservation, farm economics, climate beneficial farming techniques, sustainable living practices, nutrient cycling (in soil and neighborhoods), community involvement & support, and more.
This is for middle and high school kids who are interested in learning more about farming and ready to take charge of their own learning path, find inspiration and work hard.
Interns will be asked to arrive promptly, dress usefully, share their ideas, work hard, and ask lots of questions, just like the instructors Grace, Darrell, Shanti and Ian will.
We offer this at no cost. Limited to 15 people, must have at least 8 to run this program.
